About
‘Olena or turmeric is a renowned medicinal plant worldwide. The exact area of origin is debated upon, but it has been used historical all over Asia continent. The plant forms large, green leaves, but will also drop those leaves and vanish into the ground, until the next time of year that leaves will shoot up again.

Uses
The global uses of turmeric is a never ending list. It can be used in cooking to flavor a dish, it is a well known medicinal plant that is mainly used to treat joint and muscle pains. The roots can be used for dyeing, as they are usually a bright orange to yellow color.

Growing tips
‘Olena would much rather be in the ground than in a pot, so it is highly suggested to outplant. It requires daily watering, and prefers half and half sun. It will drop it’s leaves at one point in the year, but continue to stay dormant in the ground, until next year when the leaves will sprout up again.
